mile end

When allison and I went to Montreal last year {September 2012), we learned that smoked meat sandwiches and poutines are a must-eat in Canada. When I found out Mile End served these Canadian dishes, I had to stop by when I was in Brooklyn. The first bite brought me back to Montreal. If you are ever in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, stop by for their smoked meat sandwiches.

poutine

Poutine is a famous dish in Quebec. It's a dish consisting of French fries topped with cheese curds, and covered in gravy.  Le Gros Jambon is a small diner, hidden in the streets of Montreal. We were really excited with the menu, and had our first taste of poutine at Le Gros Jambon.. Everything tasted amazing. Can't wait to go back!

point G

Surprisingly, Boutique Point G's macarons taste better than Ladurée's! When you take your first bite, the macaron melts in your mouth. We got to taste these delicious macarons when we were in Montreal, Quebec. At the Marché Jean-Talon, there is a petite Point G stand selling the macarons. We first bought a box of 10. Before we left, we bought another box of 10!

These were the flavors we tried: balsamic vinegar, black currant, apricot black tea, salted caramel, chocolate hazelnut, pistachio, dark chocolate, cafe, vanilla, crème brûlée, chocolate passion, and maple

oliver potier pâtisserie

Olivier Potier traveled around France tasting delicious french pastries. So he got his ideas from famous pâtissiers.
Potier's patisserie {Montreal, Quebec} takes me back to Paris, France. I'm glad I got to share it with my sister. We went all out and ordered six amazing desserts.

le cartet

Our first meal in Montreal, Quebec!  We did a lot of research, and Le Cartet was a popular choice among Montreal foodies.  We stopped in for breakfast but Le Cartet also offers brunch, lunch, and à la cart for people on the go.  A little secret....we had a late breakfast so that we can hang back for lunch to order the soup of the day in the mini orange "Le Creuset".  Our meal was simple but thoughtfully prepared and very flavorful.

 café mocha
 brunch santé
{ginger organic granola with cashew nuts, yogurt, and blueberries + poached eggs on mesclun salad and whole wheat toasts + cheddar sticks with fig}
 le brunch sucré
{crepes with fruit sauce & citrus fruit zest + french toast with honey, hazelnut, and raisins served with blueberries, apple butter + ginger organic granola with cashew nuts, yogurt and blueberries}
 brunch des cantons
{scrambled eggs with country style ham + sausage + bacon + roasted potatoes in duck fat + baked beans}
 crème de carotte
