a date at nellcôte

Nellcôte is in West Loop, Chicago. Named after a French Riviera mansion, Nellcôte's menu consists of French, Spanish, and Italian small plates. We ate at Nellcôte to bring back memories of our trip to the French Riviera.  The dining experience felt very nostalgic.  Each dish we order was very flavorful.  To top it off, the ingredients are so fresh that even the flour is house-ground.

Chocolate chip cookies are classic.  Two years ago, I was on the search for the perfect chocolate chip recipe and found it in The Essential Chocolate Chip Cookbook.  I played with this recipe many, many times by adding less sugar, butter, and flour, or adding more eggs and chocolate chips...for the best texture. This time I added white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts! So try this recipe and don't forget the milk!

Oven instructions: Preheat 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 10mins.

DIY: mustache straw

I have a new obsession for mustache. You see a lot of mugs and glasses with a mustache on it, but why not have a mustache straw! I am planning a party and this is a great idea to use. I also have mason jars sitting around the house I can use for glasses. This is an easy DIY project you can do for parties for all ages. I know grown-ups would love to have a mustache straw with their cocktail :-{

What you need:

Ray's Hell Burger {Arlington, Virginia} is amazing.  I was here last on my Washington, D.C. trip in March.  I do miss it.  My dogcatcher burger makes a good model.
